Geomarketing and road data for logistics

Nowadays, business reflects the cumulative relationships between economic activities, transportation, and infrastructure. Many contemporary transportation networks are inherited from the past, and road network in many regions and countries hasn’t changed much. In Western European road network is one of the most concentrated in the world. But still European forwarding and distribution companies indicate time and financial losses due to the road congestions, missed links, and traffic restrictions. Meanwhile in another part of the world, in South East Asia, infrastructure construction lags behind the fast-growing economies.

In Eastern European and Balkan countries, to say nothing of many Asian and African nations, existing roads selected may not be maintained properly. Even freeways and strategic roads may have serious pavement deterioration and adverse driving conditions.  At the same time governments of China, South Korea, Malaysia, and Middle East nations invest heavily in the infrastructure, including construction of highways, multilevel interchanges, and bridges.

Using new actualized road maps is principal for transportation planning and optimal routing.

Zesmill utilizes GPS, remote sensing and geoinformation (GIS) technologies to survey road and street networks to the highest levels of accuracy required for today’s logistics. We undertake desk based studies analyzing tons of maps, road atlases, satellite images, and information from the web. Travelling by Zesmill’s survey vehicle equipped with 360° camera, GPS and IMU, our field team collects the principal information about arterial and minor roads:

  • road-centerline data
  • width of carriageway
  • traffic restrictions
  • TIR routes and restrictions
  • rural/country road, farm-to-market road data
  • pavement type and condition, typical surface defects
  • bridge condition and capacity

Logistics and Distribution

Zesmill provides logistic, forwarding, and distributing companies with tailor-made road network maps, GIS layers and graphs, as well a base and geomarketing maps. Also Zesmill carries out extensive road survey to identify obstacles, pavement conditions and devise alternative routes in order to help companies transporting

  • perishable goods
  • fragile goods (bottles wine and spirits, glassware, tableware, etc.)
  • over dimensional cargo
  • livestock.

We also specialize in rural road network inventory and rapid road inspection.

In addition, Zesmill resells geospatial data and maps for automotive GPS from both leading mapping companies and national survey and mapping institutions.

Bus and Coaches

Zesmill’s detail road inventory and socio-economical data is a strategic tool for passenger logistics. We provide bus and coach operators with key data for marketing activities and route planning, including:
